About
DJ Fasmwa
DJ Fasmwa is a Caribbean musical specialist, based in Sydney, Australia focused on the musical genres of Soca, Dancehall & Reggae.
DJ FASMWA has a unique bond to these genres due to his Caribbean ancestry. He understands the nuances of the genre, and allows the listeners to experience the very best in the music, whilst taking them on a musical journey.
He started hearing Caribbean DJs and music played as a young boy, growing up closely with uncles and aunts that played music all the time. This is where his journey with music started, soon learning to play the piano, steel drum and guitar.
After a short radio stint, as school work experience, he was hooked to the electric and energetic response a DJ and Selecting music could provide. Already a music lover, this was the icing on the cake. Making people dance and creating memories.
DJ Fasmwa has since played alongside many artists that have toured in Australia including Elephant Man, Brick N Lace, Demarco, Lukie D, Cecile and Anthony B.
After a successful working relationship and being part of the SpinDMusic brand, from 2006 – 2010 in Sydney, he took a year off and travelled throughout the Caribbean. Whilst travelling, DJ Fasmwa played in Costa Rica, Suriname, Trinidad, Jamaica, and also in The Netherlands and Greece.
DJ Fasmwa started the ‘Prescription Nightclub’ brand (2013), which is known for its unadulterated, unfiltered, Caribbean musical experience in Sydney, Australia. He is the host of the weekly radio show ‘Prescription Radio’ which has been running since 2013.
DJ Fasmwa is also musical consultant for Caribbean Sydney. In 2018, he embarked on a history making concert, bringing modern day Soca artist, Nailah Blackman to Australia, which was a first of its kind for Australia. DJ FASMWA helped promote the campaign and was also the DJ for the artist during her first concert.
It is safe to say that DJ Fasmwa is one of the most dedicated and passionate Djs when it comes to Caribbean styles; whether it is a Carnival session, dancehall set or a big people jam, he has got you covered.
