Championing Caribbean
Music in Australia & Beyond
DJ Fasmwa is an ambassador of Caribbean music in the Asia-Pacific — dedicated to building, promoting and sustaining Soca, Dancehall and Reggae culture across Australia, New Zealand and Asia since 2006.
His foundational experience in Caribbean event culture began during his college years in Amsterdam, the Netherlands (1999–2004), where he attended and immersed himself in the European Caribbean event scene — laying the groundwork for a lifelong mission to champion these sounds internationally.
Bringing that momentum to Australia, he began DJing in 2006 and founded Spin D Music — establishing a professional benchmark for Caribbean music marketing, party promotions and DJ bookings across the country.
When Soca music lost its commercial advertising presence in Australia, DJ Fasmwa stepped in to preserve the genre. He founded Prescription Night Club as a monthly dedicated Soca event and, in 2013, launched the Prescription Radio Show on Bondi Beach Radio — creating the first dedicated Caribbean music media platform in Australia. The show now broadcasts on Koori Radio 93.7FM and has been on air continuously for over a decade.
Through festival curation, international artist bookings, exclusive interviews and a global performance footprint spanning Costa Rica, Suriname, Barbados, Jamaica, Greece, the Netherlands and Vanuatu, DJ Fasmwa has continuously elevated Caribbean culture in the region — connecting the Asia-Pacific directly with the heart of the Caribbean music world.
“When the scene needed a champion, he built the stage himself.”
