My Unforgettable Experience at the Afro Caribbean Carnival Melbourne 2025

The Afro Caribbean Carnival Melbourne is one of Australia’s most vibrant celebrations of Caribbean culture, and this year, I had the privilege of being part of it. From the electrifying music to the energetic crowds, the event was a testament to the growing love for Soca, Dancehall, and Reggae events in Australia. As DJ Fasmwa, I was thrilled to bring my sound to the stage and witness firsthand how music can unite people in the most joyful way.

The Heartical Hi Powa Stage: A High-Energy Start
The carnival kicked off on Saturday, the 15th of February 2025, at the Heartical Hi Powa Stage. This stage was a hub of energy, with performers and DJs setting the tone for the day. When I stepped up to the decks, the crowd was already buzzing with anticipation. I opened with a mix of high-energy Soca tracks, including Carry It by Bunji Garlin and Pardy by Machel Montano. The response was incredible. People were dancing, singing along, and fully immersed in the rhythm.
The feedback from the crowd was overwhelming. One attendee shouted, “Finally hearing Soca on some proper speakers!” Another said, “This set is amazing—I’ve never danced so hard in my life!” A third added, “DJ Fasmwa brought the vibes we needed!” It was heartwarming to see how much people appreciated the music and the effort that went into curating the perfect playlist.
Taking Over the Main Stage: 100% Soca Vibes
After warming up the crowd at the Heartical Hi Powa Stage, I moved to the main stage. This was where the magic truly happened. I played 100% Soca music, including standout tracks like The Greatest Bend Over by Yung Bredda and Coco Tea by Kes. The energy was electric. The crowd was a sea of waving flags, colourful costumes, and smiling faces. It was a reminder of why I love what I do—bringing people together through music.
The Afro Caribbean Carnival Melbourne is more than just an event; it’s a celebration of culture, community, and connection. Being part of it was an honour, and the positive feedback from attendees made it even more special.
Wax Music Lounge: Keeping the Party Alive
After the carnival, the party didn’t stop. I headed to Wax Music Lounge on Flinders Street, where I kept the dance floor alive with more Soca and Dancehall hits. A special shoutout to DJ Paz, who personally escorted me to the venue and ensured everything ran smoothly. The vibe at Wax was incredible, and it was the perfect way to end an already unforgettable day.
Back to Sydney: Bringing the Vibes to Metro Social Club
The next morning, I flew back to Sydney, still buzzing from the carnival. But the work wasn’t done yet! In the early evening, I spun tunes at the Metro Social Club in Sydney CBD. It was amazing to see how the energy from Melbourne carried over to Sydney, with the crowd dancing just as hard.
